Novel method for microencapsulation of eutectic hydrated salt

Phase change materials (PCMs), as latent thermal energy storage, have received plenty of attention in recent decades due to their excellent performance conservation. Inorganic hydrated salts many advantages over organic phase materials, such higher storage density, low cost, nontoxicity and nonflammability. This work presents a simple environmentally friendly method for the preparation microcapsules with inorganic core materials. Microcapsule using EHS composed SSD DHPD material EC/ABS shell has been prepared investigated by various characterization techniques. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) results indicate that are basically spherical core-shell structure. In addition, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis suggest only physical coating composite material. Furthermore, transition enthalpy is 168.3 J/g according differential calorimeter (DSC) analysis. Besides, microencapsulation may be extended other liquid hydrates at room temperature.
